One man's trash is another's Liberty

Jeez, would you people quit giving me things to post about. I have work to do. Work I get paid for. On the topic of whining, Slog is having fun at the neighborhood's expense today. And this time we might deserve it. Here's the I, Anonymous missive from an alleged 15th Ave area resident.
The wine/coffee bar called “LIBERTY” is trashing up street poles all up and down 15th ave east. The street appeal will soon have the appearance of broadway or the Pike/pine area. A group of us good neighbors have informed them that all street pole ads are being removed to keep our neighborhood looking nice but they keep placing the ads higher on the poles and we keep taking them down. I decided to live in this neighborhood because it was not trashy and fairly clean compared to down the hill—Broadway. This may seem like a small problem to sum but its amazing how the pole litter attracts more pole litter. I think this establishment is a BAD NEIGHBOR in a good neighborhood. Just wanted to inform somebody. I’m in the process of figuring out how to get other businesses on the street to tell the owner of this place to respect the neighborhood.

Why this writer thought s/he'd get sympathy from the pro Liberty / bar / drinking / questionable behavior Stranger, I don't know. I'm hoping it's a publicity stunt for Liberty but, regardless, I'm all for posters on power poles. Gives me something to think about when wandering around the neighborhood. Typical thought when I see the haphazardly hung signs dangling this way and that in the breeze: "I hope nobody follows that arrow pointing straight up because Liberty is not that way."

Signs on poles are part of life in a vibrant, business dense, urban core.

If you want a "clean" neighborhood, move to Bellevue.

I agree wholeheartedly. Old paper signs fade, weep, pulp, self-destruct. These plastic covered ones seem immortal and need some help.

This seems like something that city would handle, not a blog. I'm sure they can get fined for this if you make a big enough stink over it. Sounds like Liberty is desperate for business if they have to poster utility poles, maybe they will go out of business and then you won't have to fret over them anymore.

I live on 16th, right around the corner from Liberty.
I like having posters & adverts on the poles. But I like dandilions too. They might stink up the area to some, and add color to others.
I know I'm in the city, with all the city sounds, smells, and busy telephone & power poles. I agree, this guy should go ATP (across the pond).

Talking of signs on poles, can we get Buster's owner to take down the hundreds of (plastic covered and hence immortal) weeping color "We miss Buster" signs.

Andrew

PS: I thought it was a nice touch to have tear-off contact tabs at the bottom of the signs, and then put them in impenetrable page protectors!
