A solution for Capitol Hill station art?

We like this good idea from a recent CHS comment:
How about using an old relic passenger plane of some kind?

Deep In Shallow Thought
No, because then the piece ceases to be a provocative anti-war statement and devolves into kludgey and uninspired pop-art.

What has frustrated me from the beginning of this controversy is how so many people failed to grasp the anti-war message of this piece. Pink warplanes kissing in the sky? Hard to be more explicit than that.

The knee-jerk reactionaries on Capitol Hill have demonstrated the lack of intellectual depth and critical thinking skills that plague this nation.

As to the comment about not wanting to be reminded of the illegal and immoral wars this country is currently waging: It is this very apathy that permits our leaders to pursue their agenda unopposed, soiling the very freedoms and ideals this country represents

I share the same frustrations -- and will write more about it before Tuesday's forum. But I don't blame the 'reactionaries.' You are too unilateral in your explanation of the art's meaning. There is very little explicit about it. Work needed to be done to help people understand the design. Sound Transit didn't make this happen and is left scrambling to pick up the pieces. I also doubt the agency will risk being 'explicit' in discussing the piece with the public. Ross, meanwhile, now sounds more concerned about the job than the message which I'm sympathetic to but isn't helping. Will anybody have the savvy to frame this all properly and bring the community along? Don't know. Hopefully the forum will be an opportunity to start the conversation over.
