What really happened at Brix

We started the rumor. Urbnlivn got the details:

Sounds like Schnitzer recognized that the project was running behind and decided to bring in two companies, Anderson and Charter, to finish the project.

Not starting a Brix channel here but figured the story might as well get a capper.

re: What really happened at Brix
I spoke with a foreman from Charter Construction yesterday at the Brix site and asked him what happened with the original contractor and why they were let go.

He said he couldn't get into much detail, but that the owner had three concerns with the original contractor:
1. Quality 2. Safety 3. Sanitaion

The most interesting thing he mentioned was the sanitary condtions. Apparantley there was rotting food and garbage in a lot of the units due to the workers leaving leftover lunches, sodas etc. I was not surprised as I witnessed myself how they left the same items in the street and grass strips on 10th Ave E and Mercer for us residents to clean up.

He said right now they are in clean up mode, while accessing how to fix the quality issues, but that the building should be complete by year's end.

Sign at corner of Bway/John
Anyone happen to catch the sandwich board at the corner of Broadway and John this morning. I was able to read "Don't buy overpriced Brix condos..." as I sped past it. Related to this, or was it here-come-the-yuppies angst?
