Pho Lotus Closes

Empty storefronts at 614 Broadway E

First it was El Tajin, next Siam and now the curse of 614 Broadway East fells Pho Lotus.  In its short life (July 2009 to October 2009), Pho Lotus suffered from mediocre/bad reviews.  According to one Silo W, "Definitely the worst Pho joint on the hill. Pho'k this place!"    As well, CHS community members questioned whether Broadway could support yet another pho place.  Finally, Sound Transit and Brix construction hit this block particularly hard.  CHS will check with the building ownership / management to see if they have any new plans for the space.

Pho on Capitol Hill
I am hopeful that someone opens a good pho place closer to 15th Ave.

Good riddance!
I went there with the boyfriend about a month ago. The food was awful...never been to a place where there was such a lack of flavor. We left our plates mostly untouched. To add insult to injury, the owner demanded cash despite there being a Visa/Mastercard sign on the front door.

We had a lovely dinner at Pagliacci right afterwards.

Have to agree with Caphillmax. I was super underimpressed. At least with the Pho I tried. Was disappointed another Vietnamese place opened - NOT what was needed in that spot! Any Szchuanese entrepreneurs out there for a szchuanese place? (There's no good Chinese food on Broadway.) The ambience and lighting in that place are so totally drab and depressing that I'm afraid nothing will survive in that spot unless someone can completely overhaul it.

Really? Soundtransit?
Oh yeah, ouch, Sound Transit REALLY hurt this one bad! Nevermind that the construction site is about 5 blocks away - nevermind that there has been little construction activity there in the few months this restaurant was open. Yeesh. I think the food and the over-saturation of Pho on Broadway are the only factors at play here.
