Seattle City Light’s four-year “re-lamping” project for streetlights is headed Eastlake’s way, and it may include installation of the new LED lights seen on Capitol Hill and elsewhere in the city.
Suzanne Hartman, director of Communications and Public Affairs for City Light, says this year’s re-lamping work will start at Denny Way and go north to 65th, starting sometime at the end of March. The schedule isn’t set yet so she can't say when the work will get to Eastlake.
Seattle Parks and Recreation will host a community meeting on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Lowell Elementary School, 1058 E Mercer St, from 6:30 – 8 p.m.
At this meeting, Parks will provide information about a proposed new 12,000-square-foot property acquisition located on the corner of Federal Avenue E and E Republic Street. The community is encouraged to attend the meeting and provide input.
The 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy allocates funding for the acquisition of properties in areas that have been identified in the 2006 Development Plan and Gap Analysis. Capitol Hill Urban Village is one such area identified that will receive funding for a new park.
In November 2008, Seattle voters passed the Parks and Green Spaces Levy, which provides $146 million over six years for neighborhood and green space acquisitions and more than 50 named development projects.
