Maxmillian Apartments
Across from the First Baptist church... I had a friend who once lived here. Inside, there are a lot of religious themed motifs that lead me to believe it once had something to do with the church. The apartment building is on the list that seandr posted. Also it is kind of creepy and I swear I saw a ghost in the hall twice.

radio
I recently moved further down the hill from my former spot close to the towers. In my old place, I literally could not get one single radio station. Nothing. Not even one. I now live at Pike and Harvard and get them all clearly. Maybe just a coincidence?

I don't have a TV so I can't report on that, but it seems the towers definitely had an effect on my radio signals.

broadway is pretty sketch for now considering all of the closed businesses to make way for the rail station.

actually,
I think he was going to be evicted Monday, not Tuesday. That same day of the fire. I read somewhere he had to be out by 6pm, and there were even some type of arrangements with a moving crew which either the city or the developers (or both, not sure) had to pay for. This was settled in court.

Hi Linder!
yes! I agree! I refer to dog's owners as "sparky's mom" or "sparky's dad". Sadly, one of my neighbors just moved out who I always called "Slinky" due to his awkward nature and his horrible posture. I never thought I would miss him, but now "Sorority Chick" has moved into his spot and she is way less interesting. Bummer.

RE: I don't
I second that, except I don't live in the Kahala. I prefer to make up my neighbors' life stories behind their backs, and also give them my own secret nickname. Although, I am from New York. One of the things I love about Seattle is that it's okay that I keep to myself... I'm not really *expected* to say hi to people I don't know on the street.

McCain
I just got back from visiting my uncle in tennessee. I saw ONE Obama sign amongst countless McCain signs. Not only that, but for some reason, next to each McCain sign was an additional sign that said "KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS". It's funny how I live in the Seattle bubble where I kind of think to myself, "of course we're going to win this election- I never hear anyone say ANYTHING good about the bad guys"... but it was a bit frightening to see so many bad guy signs in one spot. I should have expected it, but it still kind of scared me.

yes, i am anal.
denny never magically turns into olive. its actually denny starting from the top of the hill all the way down. it intersects with olive, bellevue, melrose, stewart, fairview, then westlake, then eventually dexter, then eventually spills out onto western, which turns into elliot ave, etc. this bill board is actually at the intersection of Stewart and Denny, next to that neon green "youth" building.

I know this because I live at the top of Denny, and work on Nickerson, hence coasting down Denny day in and day out.

bums with dogs
I've had more than one homeless person yell at me for trying to give them some dog food. I used to be a veterinary technician, and was always getting free samples which I didnt need. I thought it was a good idea to keep the dog food in my car for when I saw a homeless person with a dog. Apparently, I was wrong. Only one very nice homeless man was ever so grateful when I handed him a 5 lb bag of food for his Basset Hound. After the third person yelled at me for giving their dog food, I gave up and brought the stuff to the shelter...

Point is, I'm not going to risk giving a homeless person some cash so they can buy a 40 of Pabst. I don't mean to generalize but I've seen it happen too many times. I would rather buy a homeless person a meal or clothes, but each time I've tried it, I get yelled at.

by a "reasonable dog owner"
this is a very touchy subject. But can't there be some kind of legislation about mandatory altering of this breed? Mike, you said that (unfortunatelY) many pit owners are wanna-be tough guy assholes. That said, they also tend to not neuter or spay their animals. This can cause aggression, in ANY breed. Perhaps there can also be some type of strict adoption process when it comes to pits. ie, background check, home check, vet references etc.

When it comes to pit bulls, people tend to point their finger at the wrong end of the leash.

poll
A quick show of hands? Just a good ol' random street questionaire? We could randomly ask people on the street/at the park/inside vivace what their opinion is. Of course, many people probably dont even have a clue whats going on in the first place but perhaps we could devise a short but sweet overview of the project to present when 'polling'. It wouldn't be "official" but it can be used as reference.
