Broadway & Madison

| I went by the accident on the #12 around noon, at which point there were three ambulances on scene and at least two stretchers out. Looked like maybe they were about to try and get a backboard under someone in one of the cars, but I didn't see much more than that. I hope everyone is okay! | |

gorilla was purse snatcher
| From the report, it seems like the gorilla was the perp, not the victim. The guy says he couldn't identify if the subject was male or female because of the gorilla suit -- seems like if it was victim in a gorilla suit talking to the cops, he'd be able to identify his own gender. | |

also seen near Pike's Market
| I saw similar signs at the downtown end of Pike, near the market last month. I was heading uphill, and at the other end of the block was a Real Change vendor singing a gospel song, and ad libbing verses in support of Obama. | |

For what it's worth http://www.rpin.org/rpinweb/ Obviously it's not well publicised, though. |

Stopped in here after a Monday night salsa class upstairs to get a quick bite on the way further down to salsa practica at Halo. It wasn't quick, but it was a bite... Service was super slow, quite inefficient (food order taken 10 minutes after drink order, & not because we were indecisive), and the food, though serviceable, didn't quite warrant the price. You can charge a lot for a minimal amount of food, but only if the food is a super knockout kind of thing. And it wasn't. I can see how if you were just hanging out and doing work on an afternoon, none of these complaints would matter. So maybe it is super awesome for lunch. Just not dinner. Sorry guys, we won't be back. p.s. not much for the vegetarians, either |

biking
| Spent Sat. biking around the north end of the lake to get to No Depression at Marymoor (w/ stop at Redhook for lunch, of course!); then spent Sunday either cozy at home or grocery shopping on the east side & retrieving bikes... | |

a very small flood
there was some flooding in my basement last night -- water coming out of the drain it usually goes out. It was only about an inch, but it left a layer of scum before it left, and the whole incident was more exciting because when I called my landlord to let him know, he turns out to be in France for the next few days. But, it's all concrete down there, with the washer & drier, and some storage closets, and ours, at least, only contains skis and bikes... |

I do want it to be clear that this is an exception -- I've been commuting regularly for three years now, and this is the maybe the second or third time I've been yelled at with malice. And Wes-- I do go home up the side route you mention, but going in, 23rd/24th is the quickest, straightest route. If the lights all line up, a cyclist could easily hit 25 mph all the way to the intersection at the bridge. If traffic is piled up at the lights down there, I am probably switching to the sidewalk, and continuing on the sidewalk over the Montlake Bridge. My deal with myself is that you have to follow car rules or pedestrian rules -- too many cyclists switch back and forth, and then drivers don't know what to expect from you. Of course, I am also grateful to know that she saw me in the first place-- http://www.dothetest.co.uk |

cancelling valpak?

How did you do that? is it printed on the envelope somewhere? I should check next time we get one. We're over on 19th, and yes... indian restaurants, pizza, gutter cleaning, cabinetry installation and designer checks. Nothing we need/want. |

the irony of posting on the internet about not having access to the internet? not that I wouldn't be screaming and crying if I was in your situation (we had multiple back and forth with comcast technicians to get ours in good working order), but it's still funny ;) |

Heritage Trees, too
Walking home the other night, my boyfriend and I noticed a plaque next to a particular tree on a corner in Fancy Pants. Apparently the city has Heritage Trees. There's a list at http://www.seattle.gov/transportation/heritagetree.htm |

yeah, well...
| as a slightly older cap hill student with a (bleh) 8:30 am class at UW, I am prepared to walk to campus, as the 43 & 48 are both running 5-10 mins late so far. Which really isn't that late, but I imagine it will only get worse... | |

Beautiful! It reminds me of an article I saw once about a Very Famous Violinist who set up on a street corner, somewhere on the East Coast, and played for a long time, and was only recognized by one or two people, and only managed to busk some small amount of money. I guess I'm kind of hazy on the details, but I love the sound of strings! |

7 Star Women's Kung Fu
The library is probably more centrally located, but 7 Star Women's Kung Fu rents their space out when there aren't classes happening. You just can't wear shoes inside. http://www.7starwomenskungfu.org/rental.htm |
