This is the first of many community art projects I have been thinking of. Some friends and I have bought a bunch of disposable cameras at Costco and we are going to hand them out and ask people to capture what they would call beauty. Then they mail the cameras in the envelope we give them with postage already on it. I think in early September we will have an art show at Picora’s Pizza and the artist themselves will have a chance to share what they find beautiful. I have this idea the when people create anything for the purpose of justice and love there is a connection to something spiritual and healing.

I will be handing them out on Sunday (August 10) in Volunteer and Cal Anderson parks and also on Broadway.

My wife has trouble sleeping, so when we were walking on 15th and saw that Rainbow Natural Remedies (409 15th Ave. East) was having a discussion/lecture on insomnia and the Chinese Medical perspective we were genuinely interested. This is how they describe their event.

"The summer can be a time of excitement and fun during the day, but dread and anxiety at night for many who find it hard to get sleep. With all the activity of the day, one imagines our bodies would easily slump to sleep, no? Come join two Chinese medicine practitioners for a discussion on how they perceive insomnia and other sleep disorders. Learn simple nightly activities you can do to help your sleep be more restful, and recharging for your days."

It will be this Tuesday (August 5th) from 6:30pm to 7:30. I think after we will go to Remedy Teas for some deep sleep tea (no. 3) for some reflection on the evening. Could be fun. Plus, if you have not been to Remedy Teas it’s a must. Should be an interesting evening in that I have never really been exposed to the Chinese medical perspective. Hope to see some of you there!

I’m new to the whole blogging scene and I love it! The number one reason, hands down, that I love it so f-ing much is that you have all the time in the world to think of thee most witty posts, comments, re: etc… Also, I am sure to write all my stuff in Word first, before I post, so as to have copiousness amounts of time to use the thesaurus and make sure that my spelling is “just what the doctor ordered”. For example did you know that “just what the doctor ordered” is a synonym for perfect! Stupendous! When it’s all said and done, here in this space, I am the most funny and smart guy I can possibly become. Oh and by the way ladies super hot!

Ultimately, I guess what this really means is, I can never meet any of you face to face lest my true identity be reviled. I think that trade off's are worth it.

So for now…

I’ve been walking around Capitol Hill and have been noticing the vacant lots with color pencil advertisement “buy your inivisa-condo today starting in the low 500’s”. I have not been too sure what to do about these bone yards until recently. While at Trader Joe’s I almost bought a basil plant until I read that they require lots of sun. My apartment does not get lots of sun but the bone yards do. I was thinking about a little gorilla gardening. There is a lot on Federal and Republican St. that gets tons of sun and just waiting to be used before “builders” come. I’m thinking of going as soon as this weekend. Anyone interested?
