Sad to miss!
Aw, I am very sad to miss this, however I am in Peru right now! Good luck with the exhibition. Is there a website for the event / healthcare mission? |

Yes! *That* house.

I'm torn. I guess I'd prefer it over a huge condo building. From what I'm seeing here, it's vacated. I never actually saw many people coming/going from the place, although the 'art' changed every once in a while. |

| That's great! Man, I love CH. I walked by that sign today, and was wondering if anyone would have posted something here on the blog. Glad to hear the ferret is in good hands! | |

I thought it was especially powerful
| I thought it was especially powerful given their mission of mentoring troubled youth in Seattle. I.e. Taking them off the streets and providing them with good role models, etc. | |

Let's make one thing clear
Taller doesn't necessarily equal dense, nor does it foster 'neighborhoo-y-ness'! There are many ways to make shorter buildings just as dense... Take Capitol Hill for example. We're the most dense neighborhood in town people. Shorter buildings also bring in more sunlight. The developers want to build 'up' so they can make more money selling 'view' condos. Boo for turning SLU (a neighborhood with so much neoborhood-y potential) into another Belltown! |

Let's do something closer to Broadway...
| I'd be in for the Deluxe (with my fav Eric behind the bar)! I also really like Sun Liquor, but the space is pretty small. | |

Get over it.
| I don't particularly want war planes in our Light Rail station, but the Blue Angels aren't nearly as obnoxious as the music blaring from La Puerta. | |

Oops, the other way around.

| The traffic history is reviewed, and then the petition comes into play. ;) Thanks for the link Adam!! | |

I'm trying to get one installed at Belmont & Republican...
| The request also requires a certain number of signatures from surrounding residents, I believe. And then the traffic/accident history of the intersection is reviewed. :) | |

Informal poll
| The same argument holds true for voting here on CHS... it wouldn't reflect "the public" any more than those in attendance at the meeting. I'm game for an informal poll though. Can we also include an area for people to include comments? | |

Current counts?
| I'm not sure where you're getting a majority opinion opposing the art? Was there a poll taken somewhere? As I said in my previous post, I think it was fairly split with lots of people in the middle. | |

My perspective.
I agree that there were some really strong points against the art that were brought up during the meeting, and I was especially moved by George Baken's comments. However, I think there were more than just two people who supported the piece with enthusiasm at the meeting. It was fairly split with strong 'fors', strong 'againsts' and lots of inbetween. Regarding your request for a vote in the room. I thought this was completely inappropriate as did many other people in the room. There were gasps. When the moderator said "this is not a democracy or majority rules situation" he was referencing the forum itself, not necessarily to how the art was chosen. The moderators job was to promote open dialogue about the art, and taking a vote would have created a much mroe devisive situation. Re: Only a group of 10 selected the art. The committee actually selected the artist (not the art), and now Sound Transit is getting feedback from the community on that artists proposed art. I think this is a completely reasonable way of tackling this kind of a project as it allows people with strong opinions one way or the other to participate. It also has allowed undecided folks, like myself, to get information, ask questions and participate in the dialogue. |

Two locations!
There was a HUGE sign, hard to miss at the Dilettante location. So, I just called B&O to confirm. They are going to have TWO locations, including their current spot for the next three years. Pretty sweet. |

Favorite place?

These are similar to "your neighborhood & why you live there"... Favorite place on the Hill and why? Favorite place OFF the Hill and why? Might get at some hopes and dreams kind of stuff. :) |

File a complaint
Nah, I definitely agree with you. I'm four blocks away and can hear it when I have the windows open. I'm okay with the cars, people, etc. right outside of my building. I also like the overall hum of the city... But any persistent beat, and yes, sometimes very bad vocals during karaoke night, should be contained to a reasonable area. This is why I live *near* Broadway and not *on* Broadway. From Seattle City's website: Public Nuisance Noise To file a complaint about public nuisance noises--such as dogs, fowl, other animals, horns or sirens, music, amplified sound, motor vehicles, or water craft--call the Seattle Police Department's non-emergency number at (206) 625-5011. For additional information on public nuisance noise, visit its website. |

Fancy Pants
I agree about the "Institution Belt". And I'm also not the biggest fan of "Fancy Pants" as there are lots of fancy pants areas on the Hill, especially in the North. Of course, I don't LIVE in Fancy Pants, so I must be biased in that way. :) Maybe we could put this out to the readers. See what they'd call the different areas and then have a vote? |
